Sofia Ring Road

The Sofia ring road ((ブルガリア語:Софийски околовръстен път), ''Sofiyski okolovrasten pat'') is an important thoroughfare surrounding Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The ring road is around 60 km long and has recently been upgraded on several sections, with plans to further improve it on the remaining sections.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://econ.bg/%D0%9C%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B0/%D0%A1%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%87%D0%BD%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BE-%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%80%D1%8A%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%BE-%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%B5-%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%BE-%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%8F%D1%89%D0%B5-%D0%B8-%D0%B1%D1%8A%D0%B4%D0%B5%D1%89%D0%B5_l.a_i.389322_at.17.html )〕__NOTOC__

The Sofia ring road is divided into four sections (arcs), at south, north, west and east. A major part of southern arc has been significantly upgraded in several stages between 2007 and 2012, providing now a conflict-free connection between the Boyana and the Mladost IV junctions.〔 The next planned upgrade on the southern section will be between the Buxton district and the Lyulin motorway ''(A6)'', which may begin after 2013.〔 The segment between Mladost and Tsarigradsko shose blvd / Trakia motorway ''(A1)'' interchange has conceptual design since 2015, with a proposal to be upgraded with an EIB loan.
The eastern arc, which lies between the Trakia motorway ''(A1)'' and the Hemus motorway ''(A2)'', is grade-separated and provides three traffic lanes and a hard shoulder in each direction. Though, it's not signed as a motorway and a speed limit applies.
In the northern part of city, the Northern Speed Tangent is planned to connect the Mramor village with the Hemus motorway. It will be a controlled-access highway, designed to carry the transit traffic and will supersede the existing northern arc.〔 It was tendered in 2012,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://oldsite.api.bg/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3031:Eleven-tenders-were-opened-for-the-design-and-construction-of-the-North-Speed-Tangent&catid=140:News&Itemid=124 )〕 and construction works began in 2015.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.monitor.bg/article?id=375697 )
The western arc is also being upgraded to a grade-separated status, between the Lyulin motorway (A6) and the future Northern Speed Tangent.〔 The first section, between the Lyulin motorway and the Kakach river, was constructed between 2012〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.api.bg/index.php/bg/proekti/opt/zapadnata-dga-na-sofijskiya-okolovrsten-pt/ )〕 and 2015.〔 The second section, between the Kakach river and the Northern Speed Tangent, was tendered in 2013〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.api.bg/index.php/bg/prescentar/novini/v-api-byaha-otvoreni-ofertite-za-stroitelstvo-na-55-km-ot-sofijski-okolovrsten-pt--zapadna-dga/ )〕 but the tender later failed. A second tender was announced in 2014 and the construction began in October 2015.〔
